This work translates the aesthetic logic of Song ceramics into a contemporary sculptural language rather than replicating traditional forms. Form is allowed to expand, fold, and rupture, drawing from natural structures such as weathered tree bark. These references function not symbolically but as material analogues for processes of growth, erosion, and transformation. The work maintains a consistent principle: balance over expression, material judgment over gesture, and stillness through sustained control. In this way, the project extends Song dynasty aesthetics into contemporary sculptural concerns with material agency and non-anthropocentric perception.
